Get a head start on your spring lawn care
8th February 2026 Lawn UK

As the days are starting to get longer, and the weather forecast more optimistic, now is the time to think about preparing your lawn for its busy year ahead. It’s a good idea to plan whether you want to reseed, overseed, feed or a combination, and plan out how you’re going to get the best result for your lawn in 2026. Whatever option you chose, we’ve got the best products to have your lawn in top shape for the year ahead.

Seeding from scratch

If your lawn is beyond repair, or you’re seeding a new project, then it’s important to give the new lawn the best chance at establishment by preparing a great seed bed. Application of a preseeding fertiliser like Growmore or Sustain 10-15 days before sowing will give new seedlings the best chance at growth.

Lawn UK SpreaderOverseed an existing lawn

In case your lawn has taken a lot of wear over winter, you may choose to overseed it all, or patches where it’s become thin. We normally suggest a sowing rate of around 50g per square metre, depending on the wear. You’ll get great results with a mix like Sprogs & Dogs, our favorite grass seed mixture.

For best results, use one of our new Lawn UK grass seed spreaders. You can choose from a small handheld spreader, a drop spreader for medium gardens, or a rotary spreader for the largest areas.

Feeding your lawn

Depending on the time you’ve got available, a simple Spring & Summer feed may be a good option for giving your lawn a head start this spring. Easy to apply and with fast acting results, our Spring & Summer formula gives great green results quickly.
